OUR SERVICES
ALL OUR THERAPISTS ... 

Our Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists work with people living with permanent and significant disabilities to help them achieve the steps required, to lead their most healthy and independent lives, progressing toward their individual goals and, with our NDIS participants, to achieve their set goals.

All of our therapists provide a high quality, effective and efficient service with focus on providing person-centred, holistic and goal-directed care, to promote our client’s wellness, and increase their function and independence in all aspects of their lives.  The Therapists encourage active participation by the clients, and their family, in decisions about their care. 

They have clinical and professional expertise in:

  • Child Development.  Our therapists support families who are concerned about their child's development. Their child does not need to have a formal diagnosis.

  • Therapy assessments, and management for all participants, including NDIS participants;

  • Assessments and planning for participants to maximise their level of function, capacity, and social engagement in a range of setting;

  • The support of NDIS participants in reaching their stated goals.

  • Prescription of equipment and recommendations;

  • The provision of ongoing therapy support;

  • Reporting outcomes and recommendations, written and verbal;

  • Liaising with clients, families, referrers, doctors, employers and other allied health professions to achieve coordinated outcomes, to meet client goals, from a capacity building and enabling perspective.

PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

Our Physiotherapists work in collaboration with clients and their families, plan and develop effective physiotherapy treatments to reflect a client’s needs, reflect and respect a client’s priorities, build on strengths, and develop sustainable long-term solutions for our clients and those around them. 

Specialists At Hand physiotherapists also assist clients with rehabilitation, planning treatments, reviewing recovery, and conducting therapeutic exercises with their clients.

They have clinical and  professional expertise in:

  • Physiotherapy assessments, and management for NDIS participants;

  • Assessments and planning for NDIS participants to maximise their level of function, capacity, and social engagement in a range of setting;

  • Child Development;

  • Neurodevelopmental Therapy;

  • Hydortherapy / Aquatic Physiotherapy;

  • Developing a plan for, and the support of, Therapy Assistants, including assessing outcomes, and modifying treatment as required;

  • Prescription of individualised equipment including specialised second skin orthotics; standing, walking, riding, running and seating equipment, including pushers, trikes, manual and/or powered wheelchairs; 

  • Equipment recommendations, and provision of ongoing therapy support for NDIS;

  • Reporting outcomes and recommendations, written and verbal;

  • Liaising with clients, families, referrers, doctors, employers and other allied health professions to achieve coordinated outcomes to meet client goals from a capacity building and enabling perspective.​

KEY WORKER

A Key Worker is the main point of contact for your family’s needs. They work with you, and other services and practitioners, to best assist with your child’s development, and help you support your child be more involved in family and community life.

As you know your child and their needs best, and have the most impact on their development, the key worker works closely with you.  They identify your child’s strengths, interests, and routines, while also incorporating your family’s support needs.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Our Occupational therapists work with their clients to help them achieve the steps required, to lead healthy and independent lives, and provide high quality, effective and efficient, goal-directed care, to promote our client’s wellness.  The Occupational Therapist encourages active participation by both clients and their carers in decisions about their care.   

They have clinical and  professional expertise in:

  • Occupational Therapy assessments, and management for NDIS participants;

  • Assessment, planning, and management of minor and major home modifications;

  • Assessments and planning for NDIS participants to maximise their level of function, capacity, and social engagement in a range of setting;

  • Prescription of equipment and recommendations, and provision of ongoing therapy support for NDIS;

  • Reporting outcomes and recommendations, written and verbal;

  • Liaising with clients, families, referrers, doctors, employers and other allied health professions to achieve coordinated outcomes to meet client goals from a capacity building and enabling perspective.

THERAPY ASSISTANTS

Specialists At Hand Therapy Assistants provide direct support to our clients under the guidance and direction of the therapists.

The Therapy Assistant works, hand in hand, with qualified Therapists, and support their work.  Therapists will prescribe a plan, train the Therapy Assistant, and the Therapy Assistant will implement the plan at a more cost-effective rate, enabling you to have more hours of support.  The Therapy Assistant feeds back information regarding the client’s progress to the Therapist who will adjust the client's plan in light of concerns or progress.

The Therapy Assistant will follow a personalised therapy intervention plan devised by an allied health clinician in the Therapy Team.  Intervention plans will be person-centred, purposeful, functional, evidence-based, and relationship-based therapeutic intervention.  The plan will be regularly reviewed and adjusted by the Therapist, in conjunction with the Assistant, family and client.

THERAPY SUPPORT WORKERS

The Support Worker provides direct support such as personal care assistance, community support, social support, and inclusion to the client.  This position may also involve, but isn’t limited to, supporting independent living skills, domestic activities, and improved relationships.

They can help with a range of daily tasks including personal hygiene, mobility support, shopping tasks, food preparation, housework tasks, and the coordination of social events.  Our Support Workers also ensure a varied program of activities, providing emotional support and friendship.

OTHERS

Though not regular members of our team, should you require the services of, for example, a Speech Pathologist, Exercise Physiologist, Dietician, Play Therapist or similar, we will be able to connect you.
